The principles behind this psycho-educational online program are based on the researched belief that supporting families affected by the harmful addiction of someone they care for can yield positive outcomes for the whole family and the addicted individual. (Coppello, Velleman & Templeton, 2005)
The purpose of this program
Is to provide a brief intervention for families specifically developed to:
- Support their loved one to enter treatment.
- Reduce the length and severity of the addiction.
In addition, reduce:
- The level of distress that family and loved ones feel.
- The strong belief that families are somehow to blame.
- The overwhelming sense of guilt.
- The level of helplessness.
